Legacy dredge legacy dredge 20179/8/2023 ![]() ![]() Human nature, and particularly our affinity for pattern recognition, drives us towards the line of thinking that synergy is inherently good and clashing elements are inherently bad, but this is often not the case.įor better or worse, a match of Magic is not actually just about one's deck doing a particular thing cleanly or elegantly. On a whole, the avoidance of anti-synergistic elements, or “nonbos” is one of the most overstated concepts in competitive Magic. Turns out that's a pretty good trade-off on his end. Sure, the Lands player couldn't resolve a good chunk of his deck, but I couldn't resolve the spells I needed to beat him. ![]() I thought about it a little bit, and realised that it didn't. My friend's response to my complaint that the Lands player's Chalice turned off most of his own spells: “Does it matter?” Does It Matter? After losing the game convincingly, I wished my opponent good luck in the Top 8, and ventured off to complain to a friend about what I had just experienced. Chalice wasn't even on my radar, as I had seen their whole deck with my Surgical Extractions in the game prior. Their deck has Gamble, Exploration, Crop Rotation, Manabond, and sometimes even Molten Vortex, and their Chalice just turned off all of that! It appeared my opponent brought in some spice for Game 3, and I was not prepared. My opponent opened with Taiga, Crop Rotation into Ancient Tomb, Chalice of the Void for 1. I had a Deathrite Shaman, a Surgical Extraction, a Wasteland, and enough other lands to not randomly lose to a Wasteland of theirs. Opening hands for Game 3 were drawn, and I felt great. ![]() I had convinced myself that I had finally figured out how to play the matchup, and after quickly losing to a Marit Lage in the first game, managed to rally back and Surgically Extract all of my opponent's win conditions in Game 2. At a fateful win-and-in some time ago, I was playing Legacy Grixis Delver against my old nemesis, Lands. ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, chests look like modern drawers, and the noteblock/jukebox are changed to represent a giant speaker. There are a couple of major changes that might surprise you. The developer took inspiration from some of the modern styles to create different paintings that you could very well find in a regular person’s house. As far as block changes go, you’ll probably notice that the paintings are different. ![]() Modern HD texture pack manages to implement these modifications quite well and without overdoing them since you’re still able to differentiate between blocks, knowing exactly which one is which. There are no imperfections and even the elements such as sky and water have been specifically created to fit this general appearance. Natural blocks such as cobblestone, stone, wood, and others received a realistic touch. The building blocks are characterized by a clean, uniform appearance which is why they perfectly complement each other. All the textures have received a huge overhaul. Building modern architecture doesn’t look too appealing on the medieval-themed packs which seem to be overtaking the Minecraft scene. ![]() Even though it’s over 10 years old, Modern HD is popular even today. As the name suggests, all the textures in this pack take inspiration from the realistic and modern world to turn Minecraft into a whole new experience. If you’re a fan of packs that transform the entire game without leaving a stone unturned, look no further than the Modern HD resource pack. ![]() AuthorWrite something about yourself.
